when working with [fltsim] part of the aircraft.cfg

...you must understand...that working alongside the aircraft cfg files, that everthing listed in the "title" and "model" and everyhing down to before the desription has to match whats in the aircraft folder for which aircraft you are working on.

Heres whats written in the default cessna 182

"[fltsim.0]
title=Cessna Skylane 182S
sim=Cessna182S
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Cessna182S_check
kb_reference=Cessna182S_ref
atc_id=N778WS
ui_manufacturer=Cessna
ui_type="C182S Skylane"
ui_variation="White with green"
description="When Cessna saw how well their Model 180 was selling, they looked for a way to make it an even bigger success\s the answer was the Model 182.  The Cessna 182 Skylane feels and acts like a heavier, more powerful version of its sibling, the 172 Skyhawk.  The airplane is a workhorse and a stable platform for flying on instruments. Even with a full tank, the 182 carries a family-size useful load and performs admirably as an aerial sport utility vehicle."

-So that means the title is just for the name of the aircraft and doesnt need much of any other info

-the "sim= "is where you type in or copy the name of the *.air file word for word, and letter for letter

-model is not used that much as there arent too many fs aircraf makers that include a secondary "model file", if there is one in the folder you have just downloaded...type the nane listed on the folder after the period (ie model.pk)  so the info you type here is "pk" (the sane way its listed on the folder).

-panel is where you can put the panel.xxxx info in, straightforward like i mentioned above, but if a creator  never put any other folder for yu to moce or whatever you can just leave it blank

-sound is where you can most of the time let it  be kept blank, or enter it like ive talked about above 9but thats a rarity to have to put in a sound.xxx folder...(ive never had to do that as mostly sound files are kept in sound folder inside of the aircraft folder)

*note some of these above can be kept blank as theres only a small about of creators fs2k2, 2k4, 2k6 that even try to add other folders (its soooo  rare)

but not with this one

- texture is where you will be enter the info after the "texture.'xxxxx' " and you must make sure the texture folder and the info youve written here is exact, as any spelling mistake may make you feel lost,you can always copy and paste if need be so theres nothing ba... yuo can always rename the folder but if you do, theres aleays got to be checking out  and making sure it maries up!!

you can do whatever yuo want with the rest but most realists and everyone alike may want the name of the aircraft and the model  to be correct but its only up to you...

90% of the time most texurte and model creators will have a copied info copied into thie txt file in the readme or other file in the zip or rar  file you downloaded...

last but not least the [fltsim.0] for each entry you are putting in, has to be in sequence, most fligtsim aircraft creators will include their own aircraft.cfg file that you can add to, and continue as far as you want...

i currently have 35, 737-200 textures (half came wiith the tinmouse version i got years ago, ) the rest are ones ive downloaded so you can get quite alot!! theres no need to stop thinking the file size is too big as most cfg files are way back in the KB file size..

this information might be one of what you see all over the internet im just giving it here as a better chance to talk about things!!

Computer with fs9 is wreaked for now

If you have been wonderimg why no screenshots just yet at all of my major screenshot sharing sites...its becaudse the computer i use to play fs9 isnt workimg and i have been workimg a long while to get it fixed by myself but i think its about time to send it in..   Sorry of that soumds like im giving up but...oh welll

i have no problem with this unless...

i dont mind that people want to make flightsim addos more updated and amke games more of the same.. some games lik doom (ive been playing a dozen times) just has recentyl got some new remakes of it over the last few years

if that idea were to come to the fluightsim 2004 or just the flightsim community as a whole, i would be impressed, if like, you took a few old 2004 files and made them new...like since they came out nearly 20 years ago.. or so...or to take a fs98/fs95 aircafrt and update them to fs2004 standards...id acatuialy be happy...

but lets take mike stone or kazanori ito's aicraft...we cant just remake them without making sure we remeber what they did getting us here, in set like the posky 757, he made a 757 with nearly as much paintjobs but posky exploede onto the scene and there you go we adopted ther posky one but have many cheered on mike stone and told him that ehy liked his aircaft? not sure but i hope you all have!!

if we foreget all the peoopke that got at least a model and a few repaints we should remember to thank them for their time. it would be like a person made a model of the whole of the city of paris and someone came in to look at it and said "i have a whole model of the country of france" now the whole fight might seem like they cant get along but they are within their bbounds and hey they certauly made some nice models but lets hope they rember that one made a model tyhat would help others see a city properly and we can see what it looks like  and hope w rmem,ber who started out that project.

thats all im talking about...it would be terrible to think we never could rembemnber who kzanori ito was while tons are making the same aircraft models for newer sims...

please and thanks!!

some BGL files to remove and fix some problems

so a freind of mine created a scenery for fs2004 with the airport code of CLC2_Chapekskie Field  and it comes with two seasons that you can add when you want, but most people dont want it that way..

i was wobdering why in the summer the scenery is set to winter when its summer and havent flown out of it lately but i wnt into the addon scenerry and found the airport scenerty in a folder and..deleted a file called "CLC2_ADE9_ADE_TER" and that allowed me to load up the airport and have no problem year round!!

so please delete that file and...

if you still have porblems with a scenery in that close vicinty like my glider airport scenery with a fictional icao, londion soaring club.. if you have the one i uploaded to flightsim and simouthouse that included some other airports in canada and this glider airport then please delete the file in the origional file  that i uploaded (mid 2010's) and go and re download the new version i uploaded after another airport someone made, the sim just crashed around woodstock and i figured someone wanted to have the file for anyone who knows knows about that it exists...

please notice this and it shoukl allow dacvid kolas cnm4 airport load up correctly

when posting screenshots to reddits and blogs and forums

..Especially from FSX because most people use fullscreen inside of windowed mode.. you gotta make sure you crop the shots ok!!

It's not hard to make a crop or edits to screens if they come out well, like the screenshots toward making it seems like you're really there so keep in mind to crop screens when you start seeing menu's and taskbars show up in screenshots..

Requirements

  1. Paintshop program of any type
  2. The screenshots you've taken
  3. Places to upload  ie discord/flight sim groups etc

Most of every common image editor is the cut paste and crop tools, it doesn't take long to do any of these edits and isn't even considered when large groups ask if it edited... mostly they ask because of "blooming effects" and other very caustic and very interesting edits but they will never care or worry if a photo has been cropped at all since you took it!!

All you have to do is load the image of an aircraft worthy to edit and crop per se, into an editor, there's a free one called paint.net and I'm not gonna give you the URL cause it's too confusing...just search paint.net on google...older operating systems (Vista, XP) you can only use paint.net 3.5.11 as its the only one that will work...some plugins for added effect will only work on newer but you may get some that come out that work with that

  • ok open your images in paint.net, photoshop6, or whatever
  • select the area you want to keep, so select the aircraft and scenery and everything above the windows taskbar and below the FlightSm X menu (FS9ers, you don't have to worry about this unless you re in windowed mode as well).. and once you have the desired selection open the menu and hit crop button!!
You're done!!

Now rinse, rinse repeat as many times as you like!!

  and in case you didn't follow or this was hard to read/understand here's what I mean!!
(the line above and ones you've seen in previous years is just more for elders and people with bad eyesight or ones that find it hard to read for things for so long..

"can you use flyable aircraft as custom ai" i hear alot of flightsimmers ask...

well, some come off talking about this idea about making that happen as if its not possible  like on avsim post below, from user hjwalter

"In general it is not advisable to use flyable aircraft as AI because of possible frame rate and/or stuttering issues whenever they come into view, even in total darkness. The external textures of flyable aircraft are just too complex, too many and too large. However, if you only have a very limited quantity of these flying around and your rig can handle it, then it may work for you without the said issues.
Good luck.
Hans"

I find that it is the exact opposite as is mentioned above, I've been able to do that the way you could consider it for nearly 15 years...if I cant find a  model for fs9 I will find an AI model, copy in a panel and some sounds and viola...

but that's only to make ai planes flyable... I've also used them as AI, what some of them are designed for and also , and I have enjoyed them for just about that long.

some part of this post (above) os just talking about is using regular aircraft as ai, and a lot of simmers are agreeing that it's not advisable with this idea...but I've done it with rare problems..there are here and there but normally its just odd to say stuff like this...

as John Hinson on the avsim forums said before I was able to chime in...

"Flight Simulator 2004 has huge abilities these days with modern computers which are far more pwerful than what existed in the days when it was first released.You can use most non-AI aircraft for AI if you don't overdo it.Be aware, though, that advanced models may have performance features that are incompatible. I have seen the odd aircraft that won't take off but continues in a straight line across the ground at the end of the runway, and indeed ones in the air that just won't turn in accordance with the controller's instructions and keep getting repeated instructions to change course.Both can probably be fixed by exchanging the air files, or certain content of the aircraft.cfg with an aircraft that flies properly.The answer on behaviour is to try it and see for yourself.John"

even with that said its hard for me to have even seen that happen exactly like john said...like where it distorts stuff...really rarely thoigh...!!

heres the link to the post...and see what you have to deal with

dear all fs2004 aircraft painters...

it has come to my attention that many fs2004 painters are using DXT3 files instead of the BMP 8-8888 file type for fs2004 aircraft repaints and its either I haven't found enough to figure how to let or allow DXT3 files to show up or I don't know how to use it that way...

I usually have to convert textures from DXT3 files to 8-8888 bitmap file and I'm really getting tired of this! if you are making textures please stay with BMP type 8-8888, please!!

its been fun...

Well it's been about a year since I have tried to get my computers running  and then couldn't possibly use them again so they don...
