"can you use flyable aircraft as custom ai" i hear alot of flightsimmers ask...

well, some come off talking about this idea about making that happen as if its not possible  like on avsim post below, from user hjwalter

"In general it is not advisable to use flyable aircraft as AI because of possible frame rate and/or stuttering issues whenever they come into view, even in total darkness. The external textures of flyable aircraft are just too complex, too many and too large. However, if you only have a very limited quantity of these flying around and your rig can handle it, then it may work for you without the said issues.
Good luck.
Hans"

I find that it is the exact opposite as is mentioned above, I've been able to do that the way you could consider it for nearly 15 years...if I cant find a  model for fs9 I will find an AI model, copy in a panel and some sounds and viola...

but that's only to make ai planes flyable... I've also used them as AI, what some of them are designed for and also , and I have enjoyed them for just about that long.

some part of this post (above) os just talking about is using regular aircraft as ai, and a lot of simmers are agreeing that it's not advisable with this idea...but I've done it with rare problems..there are here and there but normally its just odd to say stuff like this...

as John Hinson on the avsim forums said before I was able to chime in...

"Flight Simulator 2004 has huge abilities these days with modern computers which are far more pwerful than what existed in the days when it was first released. You can use most non-AI aircraft for AI if you don't overdo it.Be aware, though, that advanced models may have performance features that are incompatible. I have seen the odd aircraft that won't take off but continues in a straight line across the ground at the end of the runway, and indeed ones in the air that just won't turn in accordance with the controller's instructions and keep getting repeated instructions to change course. Both can probably be fixed by exchanging the air files, or certain content of the aircraft.cfg with an aircraft that flies properly. The answer on behaviour is to try it and see for yourself.John"

even with that said its hard for me to have even seen that happen exactly like john said...like where it distorts stuff...really rarely thoigh...!!

heres the link to the post...and see what you have to deal with

dear all fs2004 aircraft painters...

it has come to my attention that many fs2004 painters are using DXT3 files instead of the BMP 8-8888 file type for fs2004 aircraft repaints and its either I haven't found enough to figure how to let or allow DXT3 files to show up or I don't know how to use it that way...

I usually have to convert textures from DXT3 files to 8-8888 bitmap file and I'm really getting tired of this! if you are making textures please stay with BMP type 8-8888, please!!

FS9 Default Sceneries in these areas are still behind of the days..

as I continue to download lots of scenery files at least each and every other day, I notice there are some major airports that have not gotten an upgrade from being defualt, in like almost 20 years

places like (freeware searching only)

  1. KORD  (almost finished)
  2. RJAA
  3. KLAX
  4. KPAE (finished this summer)
  5. KRNT(finished this summer)
  6. KBFI
  7. KLAR
  8. CYXS

...and many others... there are some quite good quality sceneries but are payware, I'm only freeware based...if it occurs there are only 1 item of an aircraft, scenery located on the net then I will buy it but not like this all the time. I try to stay freeware for as long as I can!!

if anyone finds any for fs9 (free) in the future comment below, or if you know me online as darrenvox and can find me either "dm" me or send me a note somehow...even Facebook message me at some point...id like to see them being updated at some point!!

or if you are a scenery designer, do those at some point!!

That's going to suck!!

canadiancalssicairlines.com/cpc was the url

Its been a long road with cp air virtual that I've been with, even enjoying them for a few years has been a very fun and enjoyable time with the group...

it has shut down for good and will never ever be able to start up again unless someone wants to try it out for themselves, the photo below is of me removing the ACARS system that will no longer work for anytime soon, 8inster sad emoji!!

Below is a screen of the last few seconds I have of the acars getting removed/uninstalled and possibly never seeing it again... it may not be forever though.... even if I were to"Wayback machine" open  and download it I won't be able to fly with them...ouch

there were hints of them  (on the forum posts i saw) finishing or shutting down the website temporarily and quitting, then another person was going to take over it and maybe this is only temporary!! I don't know at this point!

so there's the last second that my acars was going to sit on my desktop screen

CP Air Random/Non VA fun flight from CYQH to CYDA from a few days ago

Holding short at CYQH  from tower view

Pulling into Runway!!

"Empress of Watson Lake, taken at Watson Lake"

Go around from CYDA

Tinmouse/KH 737-200 has option to open the air stairs using the "wing fold" key of whatever you set it to!! i set mine to Shift->O

Parked and Closed up for the night

During the Flight, I had some issues with the aircraft regarding losing control,  it was like an onset of hard over but not allowing any movent of the aircraft up or down and it was an issue where I couldn't control the plane or make it "nose-dive" or "aim for the sky" in any way possible even when cutting throttle to its idle position, I still had trouble taking control of the plane and descend as I was getting closer to CYDA (Dawson City Yukon)... I found it to be really hard to continue on after a few moments, even when I thought id try to divert to another airport nearby I couldn't descend down any feet at all, even at idle throttle..

The 737-200 had a few of these issues in the past and have cleared them up and simulated flights to see if any variant of future 737 variations (ie -300 -400 -500 etc) had the same problem as well, and cleared it up forever so you shouldn't have to worry on anything made after the 200 (except the max aircraft).

I was able to land after leaving the throttle at idle and tried to keep the aircraft at a decent angle of attack to at least descend down to something amiable or closer so I could go around if possible..it was terrible to have this happen to this flight on such a nice day but things happen sometimes for unknown reasons and the most important part is that you land safely or try to mitigate the issue and land and figure it out when you land... even the smallest or modern airports should have a mechanic around to help you should things like this happen to you.

if you look just more on screenshots than anything else the 737-200 pictured here, you might see that name of the aircraft (shown like "empress of  'certain town/city'") and if you know that town/airport/city you can see the airport I was at...is also the name of the aircraft pictured above!!

sorry for all these updates but wow.. this blog is going good!!

if you have gone back to FS95/FS6.0/FSFW95 and need help how to install aircraft

Here's some help for you

                                                                        ⧭⧭⧭⧭⧭⧭⧭⧭

Step 1. download the aircraft from flightim.com or copy from an old hard drive or whatever

step 2 open the zip file and take a look at its contents...

step 3 find where you've installed the simulator (Microsoft actually send it to Program Files-Microsoft Games-Flight Simulator) and then go to the next  step once you are done this

step 4, all contents are included like this

  • 4 to five files with *.0AF and as you scroll down you should see a lot more *.XAF and X is where another number in the sequence is there
  • 2 files that are *.mdl and *.air (if you see the *.air file show up as air file) as the file type then looks for one file that doesn't have an *mdl or *0AF after the period.

so you can see there's 0AF, 1AF, and others in sequential order ^above

step 4a copy the files that end in AF into main texture folder
step 4b copy the *model file and *.air file to "sim" folder and

VOILA, open up the flight sim involved here and the aircraft should show up...

hope this helped, but that's only if google algorithm got you here lol

sorry thats a rude joke...have a good day

its been fun...

Well it's been about a year since I have tried to get my computers running  and then couldn't possibly use them again so they don...
